The Artic

The trees in the Artic often resemble characters from a Dr. Seuss book.

On March 6th, 2022 I visited the Arctic region of Earth for the very first time. The Artic is defined as the area north of the Arctic Circle, an imaginary line located at 66º, 33’N latitude. In the mid-winter months, the sun never rises and temperatures can easily reach lows of – 50º F. In the summer months, there are 24 hours of sunlight a day. There are less than 2 million people who live in the Artic.

Access by road to the Arctic in the United States is limited to the Dalton Highway in Alaska.
