I want to tell you about my new initiative, starting with a new Rotary year about the RYLA program. The first thing I should tell you is why this project should be of interest to you. I have been involved with the RYLA program for more than 30 years. My RYLA involvement includes being one of the instigators, innovators, leaders, and occasionally chairman of my district RYLA.
I have spoken to and visited dozens of RYLA programs throughout the United States.
I participated in and attended several workshops for Rotarians involved in RYLA and chaired three of those workshops.
I was an active member of the Rotary International RYLA committee and spoke at a session at the Rotary international convention on the topic of RYLA.
Add to these credentials 50 years of association with the scouting program.
And who was one of the founders and chairman of the board for several years of Guided Discovery, an educational outreach program specializing in experiential learning.
So, what is this new project? Think of it as creating a consultancy for the Rotarians involved in their local RYLA programs.
I have created a website (RYLA.SteveGarrett.com) with a lot of resources I have picked up from all these experiences over the last 30 years. I also intend to create a short video and distributed it every week highlighting one specific idea, motivation, or opinion each week.

Rotarian facilitators are the key to accomplishing the RYLA goal, but how do you recruit and train them and what do they do.
